Setup & Compatibility
Getting to Know You
After you have successfully created an account and passed the background check, you will have the chance to fill out some basic details about yourself. Although you can skip these questions, we recommend completing them so you show up in more relevant matches from the beginning.
*Note* – Checkm8tes requires every user to upload a profile picture.
Compatibility Survey
The Compatibility survey is one of the most important parts of your experience on Checkm8tes. Each set of questions represents a category of your personality that drives the matching algorithm which will populate your discover feed.
*Note* – When searching for mates you can filter by compatibility category. More on that below.
Discovery Features
Discover Page Overview
Recommended Profile Discovery Feed
Your Discovery Feed is where recommended matches will appear. These will be ordered based on your overall compatibility along with any preference filters or category sorts you apply.
Sort By Category Filter
Remember the Compatibility Survey above? This is where you can sort your matches by category so that recommended profiles best match what is important to you. You will see this reflected as an additional % match beneath each profile. Check out the image below to see this in more detail.
Sort By: Preferences
Your preferences are a highly configurable feature that allows you to define your deal breakers and linkings so that only profiles within those constraints are suggested to you.
Sort By: Near By
To make it easier for you to sort through potential matches, we also offer a sliding filter that allows you to filter for the maximum distance a user is away from you. Within this range, the algorithm will suggest matches accordingly.
Online Users
If your looking to chat with someone immediately, you also have the ability to explore only users that are online at that time.
*Note* – Swiping right and left will not request or pass on a match. A request to match will only be sent if “Send Request” is selected.
Safety & Security
Background Check
Every user on Checkm8tes is required to complete a background check. The cost of this is covered by Checkm8tes. We’ve taken this extra step to ensure your never chatting with bots or fraudsters!
Public & Private Profiles
Even though everyone on the platform has their identity verified through a background check, we understand that you might not want to share all your details with anyone on the platform. This is why we designed there to be two different profile descriptions. One for the public to see and another in which only your matches can view.
Date Monitoring
Date Monitoring is an invaluable feature that demonstrates Checkm8tes commitment to safety. When you opt in to monitor your date and we’ll make sure you’re safe by sending you a message during your date and notifying an emergency contact in case anything goes wrong or you do not respond.
*Note* – Date monitoring is opt-in only.
Integrity Rating
Anytime you go on a date with someone you’ve connected with we’ll provide you the ability to provide a rating based on the integrity of the user. This rating is factored into the algorithm, promoting users with higher ratings and demoting users who score poorly.
Profile Management
Profile Manager
The Profile Manager is home base for managing your profile information, your booked dates, your subscription along with general app settings.
My Profile
Your profile is where you manage your profile information. This is where you can edit your information and review your answers to the compatibility survey.
*Note* – The compatibility survey cannot be modified after it has been completed.
Booked Dates
The profile manager provides a centralized location for all your booked dates, providing information like the date, time and location. From here you can also opt into monitor your date or cancel it.
Matches & Chats
Matched Profiles
On the first tab of the Matches view, you’ll see all the profiles you have matched with along with details on who invited who and your compatibility scores. From here you can select the chat icon to initiate a chat with the user.
Invitations
On the second tab of the Matches view, you’ll see all the profiles that invited you to match. From here you can view the profile of the requester as well as approve or decline the invitation.
Saved Profiles
On the third tab of the Matches view, you’ll see all the profiles you have saved. This makes it easier to keep track of those that your interested in but not yet ready to send an invitation to.
Chat
Text or video chatting is easy on Checkm8tes. With a standard keyboard, integrated GIFs, typing notification sent/delivered/read receipts text chat is just like what you’re used to. A user can set the time they’re available for video chat, which displays when a user is not available.
Propose a Date
First dates are hard. Fortunately, Checkm8tes makes the process of proposing a date a breeze. Simply select the yellow button next to the video chat and fill in the date, time and location. You can even send a special note if you’d like.
Date in Chat Thread
When an invitation is sent, both you and the recipient will see it within their chat thread. A user has 24 hours to accept the invitation or it will automatically expire. Either user can cancel from this view. Additionally, you can opt-in to monitor your date if you’d like that extra layer of safety.
